Discovery Objectives

Science Discovery

Provide examples of science discovery, including exploration, description, and explanation; and distinguish between a scientist and a naturalist, providing examples of historical naturalists.

Course Topics

Describe the characteristics of life and list the hierarchy of life from atoms to the Earth’s biosphere; and define this course’s topics of biodiversity, ecology, and conservation biology, including how they relate to barnacles and bees.

Science Knowledge

Describe how science knowledge is comprised of concepts, skills, and connections with other disciplines; provide examples of science knowledge related to biodiversity, ecology, and conservation biology; and explain how the course concepts relate to real life, including the final portfolio assignment.
